Thanks Adele I really don't have any more information on quality other than generally from my personal observations.. I wonder if it is that useful to try to circulate more information on the problems of care right now as we are in the final process of enactment. I hope there are good watch dogs as to some of the elements of the bills as they come up for final passage. Such as the Eshoo amendment and of course the anti-abortion provision.

I am very belatedly joining this conversation - sorry I have been so wrapped up in the healthcare campaign and others. Also I have no recollection of a password. Anyhow I quite agree with both of you regarding the awful hatefulness of our "patriots" and the suffering of immigrants, legal or otherwise. Of course the children get caught in the middle. Still many people and peace organizations are working to find a way to get past all the hate, so I think there is still hope - once the hate campaign gets its fill. That may take a while since the flames are being fanned by any group that sees an advantage in it. But haven't we had this before and got past that. In some areas people are turning away from the haters and looking for moderates. I have no idea what to do to help them along besides public statements from time to time.
Thanks to both of you for your concern!!!

Thank you Lorraine. I agree completely, of course.
Would you like to add info on the decay of our medical services to those younger than us Medicare recipients.
I don't know enough on this topic.

In response to: The Incredible Shrinking Health Care Reform

Though I am trying to be patient and reserve judgment, this is not reassuring. I am opposed to any criminalization of being poor and sick which is inherent in any mandate. (This is not liability insurance as is mandated automobile insurance.) I am equally opposed to a bill that does not include a robust public option for the reasons and more described in Solomon's article.

There is no good purpose in continuing the rant about the anti-democratic modes and methods of the Obama White House in developing and informing the public. Sadly the fascist methods of the Republicans in opposition make it look good. But if both sides are not exposed and held accountable for their tactics they will just keep doing it.

In response to: The South The Birthers and the Democrats

Lorraine [Member]

Kathleen Parker is one of the less rabid of right wing columnists. this evening's interview by Chris Matthews was also informative. She was asked to her explanation for the aggregation of the great majority of the Birthers etc almost exclusively in the Southeastern states. "One word, Confederacy."

The price the south has paid and is paying for holding onto the ideals of the Confederacy is tragic. Parker also cites a New Yorker article by Packer last year that is a masterpiece of description of the Southern Strategy that has gotten the country to this place.

It almost convinces me the tortured Southern Democrats perhaps do not deserve all the opprobrium I have sent their way. The Paker article may be found here. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/05/26/080526fa_fact_packer

In response to: Deal to hold health care town hall - from Sue

I will not be attending this meeting for two major reasons. One is personal and private. The other is: As I read the description by the sponsoring organization, The Chamber if Commerce, they seem to be precluding discussion. They describe it as a meeting where the attendees will be informed of how Reps. Deal and Gingrey will vote.

It would seem that any visibility that the public option movement will get will be as protesters. That said, I certainly hope there will be many signs and T-Shirts with logos there.

Good luck to all who make the effort.
