Project for Supporters of Good Health Care Reform with a public option

I am desirous of organizing a letter writing campaign for the NE Georgian in which we base our objective on breaking through the barrier of Republican denial on the health care issue. Hopefully, it can help us in Habersham County in making a beginning of re-establishing some truth here. Using the health care issue as described in my letter to the editor below, individuals would choose a date, write a letter on any aspect of health care you'd like (presenting the facts of the benefits of the public option for health care, increasing understanding in any way you like) and somewhere in your letter include the statement that "American government-run health care is good (well run, excellent, etc)". If we stick to health care (and to our focus statement), not allowing Republicans to divert us (particularly onto cultural issues where we have diverse views), we can put up a united front and hopefully force acceptance in our community of this well established truth which is a beginning of breaking down their system of lies on the subject.
We don't have to state whether we support Obama's plan (since we don't know what it is), but I think it's best if we sound supportive of Obama's efforts and positive - having faith and trust in a good final product in order that ours be a positive campaign with good prospects of successfully changing minds. That can probably be accomplished by choosing some member of Congress's bill and being supportive of that. Pointing out some aspect of Obama's presidency which has been successful is another way of sounding supportive.
Even if we fail in this particular specific goal, we will have surely changed some minds on important aspects of health care. If it works as it should, it will have enormous positive consequences. It is a win-win for us.
Please check the dates and email back with the date you choose for a letter, if you decide to participate. Then:
- Submit a letter by Monday noon for Tuesday's edition, Wednesday noon (I believe) for Friday for the date you choose..
- Treva Bennett's email address is news@thenortheastgeorgian.com
- The limit is 350 words.
We can start again for September if this is going well and worthy of continuing. Thanks for doing your part if you are willing to help out with making the public option a reality in our nation. Email me back if you are willing, letting everyone know what date you choose.
I've enjoyed this present email discussion and have been highly educated by it and by the links and opinions and facts given there.
Thanks!
Bette Hinesley
